Lucas Falterman
Hobbyist Poet
Hello, and welcome to my poetry website! I’ve always wanted to make my poetry available to the public, so I figured I’d give this a try. On this website, you’ll find a couple dozen poems organized into a few categories. My poetry mostly errs on the introspective side: throughout my life, I’ve used writing as a creative outlet for channeling my emotions and sharing different worldviews.
What’s the goal of my poetry? I’m always experimenting with new ways to convey my messages. I thoroughly enjoy playing with rhyme schemes, meters, and the new philosophies I encounter. Whenever something strikes me as an appealing subject, I usually write a poem about it!
So, please enjoy these poems, and do feel free to send me a message through the “Contact Me” page with any thoughts you have- Thank you!

About the Author
I’m a southern Louisiana native who was raised in the company of loving friends and folks. The people I call family, related or not, have always been staunch supporters of my creative pursuits, whether it be my piano pieces or my verse. While I often share my musical compositions with others, I’ve mostly kept the poetry to myself until now.
With early inspirations being the Romantic sentiments of Charles Baudelaire, I initially endeavored to illustrate my sometimes sour outlook as a teen. My early lyrics reflect my confusions- my endless questions about a world I could barely fathom as a young man. Over time, that restless inquiry and dread blossomed into wonderment at what my existence could offer to both myself and others. Maturing meant embracing philosophies of acceptance- acceptance of life’s haphazardness, its cruelty, but also its blessings.
While my poetry is deeply expressive, it is not always autobiographical. What I choose to write about is often a tad grim and austere, so just know that these poems do not reflect my true perspectives on their subject matters. I write to experiment, not to document. In truth, I have much to be grateful for: friends, family, work as a tutor and substitute teacher, mentors, and more. I’m making this website as a show of gratitude towards those who fuel my resolve to continue writing. As for everybody else…
Thank you for visiting and for showing your support! I will be updating this website with new poems frequently, so check back here once in a while for more from yours truly…
Please enjoy,
