“Life Chants”

by

I’m somnambulant in these woods. The hike has gone long.

I look up and see the aqua blue sky and the wind-fettered clouds chant a merry merry song:

~Live, for Gaia has granted life. Live, for life on Earth is rife.~

Then my smile stretches anew and I feel a warmth from the Sun shining through.

Mayhaps I’m brimming with existence, radiant like the Sun.

Or mayhaps I’m a stagnant pawn in a scheme I am unaware of

Or rather, fulfilling a role I could not fathom undertaking while conscious

Likely performing at peak capacity for a task I could not accept

Or rather, I’m waning again, and achieving nothing truly of consequence

Or mayhaps I’m a free spirit shackled by itself in this world

Mayhaps I’m brimming with dread, dim like an old streetlight.

Then my smile stretches anew and I feel a warmth from the Sun shining through.

I am awake in these woods. The hike has gone long.

I look up and see the pale blue sky and the atmosphere-fettered clouds chant a merry merry song:

~Die, for life comes to an end, yet begins again. Die for life.~

~Die for life forsooth and smile anew. A smile in bloom, a frown be doomed.~

…Life chants for the listless. Death chants for the vivacious…
